After uni I plan on doing a PGCE in primary education. I have always had an interest in teaching and is something I considered doing instead of a graphic design degree. To make sure it is something I actually want to do I am currently volunteering at a primary school in huddersfield. I attend every wednesday and help the children with arts and crafts things as well as reading and writing. I find it a very rewarding job and enjoy helping out. One of the requirements for a lot of the universities I have looked at applying to is to have some sort of experience in a primary school setting therefore it is beneficial towards my application.
However it is also very benefirfial to me as I get to ask questions directly to teachers such as how they got into it, what they did in their interviews (some interviews require you to teach a lesson) and what to expect when getting into teaching.
