6B2, 6D2 - volunteering at dalton school

I do my voluntary work every Tuesday at Dalton Junior and Infant School, I chose to do my voluntary work here as  it was my old primary school therefore holds many great memories for me. After receiving my offer for the SCITT at Kirklees and Calderdale training centre they advised me to get some more experience and volunteer at a different school if possible.

I had previously done my volunteering at Berry Brow Infant and Nursery School and I really enjoyed my time here. I worked in a reception class of 54 children and I think working in such a chaotic environment really improved my confidence in the classroom.

Dalton school is very different, the class sizes are much smaller.
I am now in a year 2 class of 24 pupils.

The routine:

Morning: Arrive at school and get briefed on the day and help set up the classroom

8:40: Help them children with their morning activities.

9am-10am: Usually after registration the children have an english task, during this I take some of the children out individually and help them with their reading. I often ask the children questions about the books they are reading or ask them to recap things they have read.

10am: The children have a 15 minute playtime

11am: After milk time there is then a short maths lesson which I assist with, I help by taking the children through the questions step by step and talking them through how to answer it.

12.40pm: Lunchtime

1.40pm: After lunch we usually do RE or art I then use this time to take more children out for reading.

2.30-3.30pm: catching up on work that should've been finished earlier or doing some maths or spelling.

6C2, 6D2 - self branding

6A2, 6C2, 6D2 - final website

Changed the logo to match cv

6B2, 6C2 - designing my cv

current CV - very basic and boring

to start I placed my existing CV next to a pink art board with my logo and photo on it.

Playing around with layout and positioning. I decided to split the page in two as I thought this would make it easier to read and be more compact. I used a combination of the two typefaces from my logo.

as i used a script/ hand writing typeface I wanted to add some random brush marks on the page to make it a bit more unique and interesting. I  used a shade of pink a few shades lighter than the colour used in my branding.

I also added some doodles and squiggles to make it look a bit more casual and playful.
Overall I really like the use of arrows and scribbles as I think it breaks the page up and helps direct the eye and add a bit of interest to the page.

6B2, 6C2 - CV research

I want my cv to stand out and be unique therefore I looked on pinterest for some ideas.

I like the way they include all the essential information seen in a cv but in an interesting way. This would make it stand out from the sea of cvs most businesses will receive. I want something that includes my personal branding logo and colour theme so that everything links together and looks consistent.

6B2, 6A2 - Logo Research

for my branding I am wanting to use my own name therefore I looked into other designers out there who use their name as their brand.

greetings cards, portraits, prints and wrapping paper for the whole family.
Beautiful pet portraits, personalised greeting cards, painted wooden decorations, door signs, gift wrap and prints by Gabriella Buckingham Design & Moobaacluck
Hello and welcome to my shop.
I started my working life as a freelance illustrator, which I still am, painting a wide variety of illustrations for video, tv, children's books, publishing, wrapping paper and designed hundreds of greeting cards and even had a spell of working as a product manager commissioning other artists.
When I had a baby boy we decided to move to Norfolk from Kingson Upon Thames and completed our little family with a girl a year later. As the children got older I started to paint wooden decorations as gifts for their tiny friends - the parents loved them! In 2007 I'd created enough of a range to start selling at local retail fairs and was spotted by Notonthehighstreet.com in 2009.
My aim is to provide you with beautiful gifts that you won't find in the shops for people you love - and I design paper to wrap them up in. You might also spot prints and art for your own walls that you simply must have!

Olivia Morgan Ltd

A one woman business run in the heart of the countryside in Wiltshire.
Hello! I am Marlies, the person behind Olivia Morgan Ltd. It is named after my middle name and surname, as the it is all run by myself, from the designs to the customer service.
I started up Olivia Morgan back in 2014 just as I finishing university, where I studied printed textiles. I have always had a passion for art and design. So running my own creative business was the next logical step for me.
When I first started I made orders from my tiny one bed studio flat in the evenings after my day job. Fast forward four years and I now run my business from a beautiful studio space in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Its definitely a full time job and one that I love.
I love developing new products and creating new patterns for them. When I get a sale for a new product or design I always get very excited that someone else out there loves it too!

6B2 - why I want to teach

Since leaving high school I have always been in two minds about whether I wanted to teach or become a designer.
In second year I started volunteering at Berry Brow Infant and Nursery School in Huddersfield.
I had very limited experience prior to this so I was excited to see what was in store.
Over my 4 months there I learnt a lot of vital skills such as:
being able to adapt myself and think on my feet when needed
leadership skills
communication skills
ability to reward and discipline children when necessary.
This experience really solidified my desire to teach and to see the children develop over the time I was there was hugely rewarding and I look forward to actively contributing to this further during my teaching career.
It's something I really enjoy and can see myself doing for life.
